Join us Saturday, Nov. 2 at the Holiday Inn in Salem, for a day of informative workshops and a keynote speech from Steve Allen, Behavioral Health Director for the Oregon Health Authority. All presentations will be held in the hotel’s Conference Center. Presentation highlights include:
- Bringing a Clubhouse to your Community. Coleen Roberts, board member at NAMI Douglas County, shares how this all-volunteer NAMI affiliate opened Chadwick Clubhouse in Roseburg.
- Addressing Youth Mental Health: Engaging Youth on Their Own Terms. Attend a teen-led panel discussion with Lines For Life YouthLine volunteers and #Work2BeWell Student Advisory Council members. This panel will cover their views on mental health including crisis intervention, social media, resources and support, as well as building awareness.
- Javonnie Shearn, mental health advocate, Vice Chair of the Oregon State Hospital Advisory Board and mother of and adult son with schizophrenia, shares her family’s journey. Notably, she will address how advocacy changed her son’s circumstances.
- A public policy and legislative update from NAMI Oregon Executive Director Chris Bouneff. We’ll recap the 2019 legislative session and take a look forward into our advocacy going into 2020.
